As the athletes we’ve focused on over the past year have all moved on to pastures new, we prepare for repeating the process spotlighting emerging talents and players who’ve been paving a way for themselves.
Basketball England has released their 2021-2022 England U18s men’s and women’s team selection and here’s how the tables look!
What we notice about the list is that there is a commitment to select players that are representative of all major leagues in UK consisting of EABL, WEABL, ABL, WNBL and NBL. To name a few, players such as Katie Januszewska and Zulieka Franklin are active young players on WBBL teams. Playing such competition only solidifies their spot as England U18s which lends us to question, what are the criteria for u18s selection and how are the athletes assessed through any type of talent pathway, what are the key decision making that comes with selecting the players? Often, athletes do not make the list and are very deserving of representing the national team, so we ask you, what are your thoughts on this year’s selection of athletes and which players were snubbed?
Congrats to all players selected we look forward to seeing you on the floor.
