NORTHSIDE MATCHUP: Ben Brown & Declan Kom go head to head

Week 2 of the Elite Academy Basketball would see uNDERRATED take a trip up north to cover an exciting matchup between Ben Brown of The Manchester Magic Academy and Declan Kom of The Sheffield College (Sheffield Elite). Quite the hype was built coming into this game. Declan Kom has been creating some noise showcasing his athletic abilities and racking up points in recent performances. Manchester recently came off a loss to Myerscough and were eager to get back on track to prove they have a team worth going all the way, and so they did.
The Magics entered the game with dominating force. Matthew Goodwin opened the game with a deep three which would boost his team into high morale for the remainder of the game. Matthew would end the game with an outstanding performance scoring 37 points, nine of which were three pointers.
Ben Brown and Declan Kom had a battle of their own going at each other trading buckets while doing their best to contain each other from scoring. Their matchup would prove how they command their respective teams and impact the game with their skillset. Declan had a stellar performance finishing the game with 28 points to Ben’s 25 points.

Declan would win his battle against Ben but The Magics won this war convincingly 104-71.
We caught up with Declan after the game, we asked him what he enjoyed most about his matchup with Ben Brown and surprisingly he responded with,
“he’s a competitor, a sniper with high IQ of the game and it’s a challenge I live for. I love playing against him, I can’t slack when he’s on or off the ball.”
In a response to where he feels he can improve after such a disappointing loss, Dec informed us that,
“I have to be a better leader, offensively and defensively to get to us into our sets more efficiently and raise our defensive intensity through leading by example. That’s what the best leaders do!”
